A grinding or rumbling note from the left end of the roller usually means the internal bearing block has had enough. Part 52121 is that block for the SEBO AUTOMATIC X8, supplied complete and shown at position 141 on the combined AUTOMATIC X7/X8 parts diagram.
The left end is the driven end, which is why it wears first. SEBO's belt 5110 runs from the sensor pulley to this bearing block, so every rotation of the brush roll is delivered through it, under belt tension, for as long as the machine is switched on. A worn block lets the roller run out of true: the bristles stop meeting the carpet evenly across the width, the belt is pulled off line and starts to run hot, and the noise gets steadily worse rather than appearing overnight. Because this is the complete version, the bearing arrives already assembled into its block and goes into the housing as one piece, so there is no pressing or picking at a seized race.
Two neighbouring parts are worth having in mind. The left-hand brush cover 52134GS is the end cap that closes over this side of the housing, and it is often the reason grit reached the bearing in the first place if a clip has broken. The left-hand brush roller release knob 52224DB sits on the same end. SEBO also lists a sealed bearing, 52131, for this machine if a bearing rather than a whole block is what you are after.
