This bag holder, part B338-50B4, is a replacement for the Riccar Prima and PrimaP canisters and the Simplicity Wonder and WonderP. Mounted inside the bag compartment, it centers the paper bag's collar over the air inlet so intake air pulls straight through the bag instead of leaking around a misaligned edge.
A cracked or warped holder lets the bag drift out of square against the inlet, so the collar no longer forms a tight seal. Dust escapes past the bag rather than staying inside it, and grit that should collect in the bag works its way toward the motor, even while the bag itself still has room left.
Replacing the holder is a matter of fitting it back into the bag compartment in place of the cracked original, then seating a fresh bag against it to confirm the collar sits flush.
