Product details

This 2-speed motor assembly, part number 46-1897-1, is a replacement for the drive motor in the Koblenz P2500 and P2600. Those are rotary floor machines from Koblenz's P series of shampooer-polishers, and this assembly drives the rotating pad and brush spindle underneath. It is sold as a complete assembly rather than individual motor parts, so it drops in as a full swap for a motor that has failed or is wearing out.

A motor nearing the end of its life on this class of machine tends to give warning signs before it quits outright. A burning smell during use points to overheated windings or brushes wearing down to their limit. Vibration that was not there before often means the bearings the motor spins on have started to wear unevenly. Intermittent power, the machine cutting in and out rather than failing cleanly, can point to worn brushes losing steady contact with the commutator as they run down.

Koblenz built a wide P series around shared parts, and not every machine in that family takes the same motor, so the two models listed here are the ones this assembly is sold for. Read the number on your existing motor before ordering. Installing a full assembly means opening the machine housing, disconnecting the wiring, and reconnecting it on the new unit, so budget time for the job or have it done by someone comfortable working inside small appliance motors.

Once installed, a correctly matched motor should restore both the low and high speed settings to their normal, quiet running state, without the burning smell, vibration, or intermittent cutting out that signaled the original motor was failing.

  • Install note: Requires opening the machine housing and rewiring the new motor
