Take the pack when a machine is being opened up properly rather than nursed. Screws that have been in and out of the same moulded boss several times lose their bite well before the housing shows any damage, and a run of fasteners replaced together puts even clamping back across a panel. Mixing tired screws with new ones simply moves the loose corner along one position. The usual prompts to reorder are a head that has started to round under the bit, a screw that turns endlessly without drawing down, and the one that vanished into the carpet during the last strip-down.
Driving technique decides how long the next set lasts. Run each screw in until the head just seats and stop there; the extra quarter turn from a power driver is what strips a plastic boss, and it happens faster in warm plastic than most people expect. Where a hole has already been over-cut, a new screw will feel soft going in, which is the signal to look at the boss rather than reach for more torque.
